A premier place for meetings and events, the state-of-the-art convention center renovation offers a sea-inspired façade along with more than six acres of public park, which replaced surface parking spaces. With four exhibition halls, one 60,000-square-foot grand ballroom, four junior ballrooms, and up to 84 meeting rooms, the center offers many space options, all near beautiful beaches and fine dining. With this renovation, a new parking garage was integrated with the convention center.

The Lenfest Center for the Arts building on the campus of Columbia University contains flexible performing space, a screening room, lecture space, and an art gallery. This eight-story structure with high ceilings and large uninterrupted open spaces was achieved with innovative structural designs.

The New World Center concert hall in South Beach is the home of the New World Symphony, with a capacity of 765 seats. The steeply banked seating arrangement allows attendees an intimate performance experience. In addition to the main concert hall, the center houses the symphony’s training facilities. Atypical of architect Frank Gehry’s most well-known works, the exterior of rectangular shapes and glass-and-white-plaster was designed to blend with the rest of Miami Beach’s architecture; however, inside, the architect’s signature style of curved forms is certainly on display.

Built on the original convention center site, the design of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh was inspired by its location between the Allegheny River and downtown. Expansive windows allow the space to fill with natural light, and the unique curving roof—created with a suspension cable system mimicking the neighboring historic “Three Sisters” bridge structures—provides a natural ventilation system from the river breezes.

The Orlando International Airport’s new South Terminal Complex and associated facilities were constructed to accommodate increased passenger growth as well as new international airlines and new routes from existing airlines in order to alleviate operational stress on existing facilities. The ITF is one of the first on-airport intermodal facilities in the US with capacity to support air, ground and rail transportations.

The Boston Convention and Exhibition Center includes a 515,000 square-foot exhibit space with 165,000 square feet of meeting rooms and a 41,000 square-foot ballroom. This 2,000-foot-long building is New England’s largest enclosed man-made space, featuring public green areas and a double-curved roof that transitions between the hotels and office buildings in the Harbor District to the residential community of South Boston. Key interior features include the 180-foot clear span between structural columns, achieved by relocating all ductwork and pipes to the main exhibition hall’s exterior. This design also allows only the exposed steel roof structure and light fixtures to be visible overhead.
